General Summary
ILM is seeking positive, energetic, highly organized, and detailed oriented individuals to help meet our clients’ goals by maintaining their lakes, ponds, and natural areas. No experience is necessary, on the job training will be provided. All successful candidates must possess the determination to grow both professionally and personally as well as be able to work independently. All work is outdoors and executed year-round. Some travelling is possible and periodic weekend work is required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Managing lakes and ponds for nuisance aquatic growth
- Trash removal and harvesting of vegetation
- Installation and removal of fountains and aeration systems; electrical experience preferred but not required
- Bathymetric mapping and water quality data collection
- Aquatic animal management – Nuisance Wildlife Control Permit Class A and D preferred but not required
- Loading and trailering boats and ATVs
- Conduct basic maintenance on equipment; mechanical experience preferred but not required
- Prescribed burning and natural areas management
- Respond to company emails and requests in a timely manner
Essential Job Functions
- Arrive to work at your designated start time ready to work
- Loading, mixing, and application of pesticides
- Operating company trucks, boats, and ATVs
- Maintain a clean and organized work space
- Ensure your time is being accurately recorded daily
- Photo document work performed and provide thorough written documentation of daily activities
- Standing, sitting, kneeling, and walking for long periods of time and the ability to lift 70lbs. without assistance
- Performing physical labor outdoors requiring strength and endurance in all types of weather and terrain

Full Time-Year-Round
Hours
40-60 hours per week with general hours of operation 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older and must have a valid state driver’s license. Driving record must meet the minimum requirements of our insurance company.
- Possess a high school diploma, pursuing/ possessing a college degree in a related field preferred but not required
- Must obtain an Illinois Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Operators License within 30 days of start date
- Have a basic understanding of ILM’s purpose and supports our mission to the environment
- Willingness to learn the management of aquatic and terrestrial habitats
- Familiar with the safe operation and transportation of a variety of vehicles both on and off the road
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors, requiring strength and endurance in all types of weather and terrain and be able to lift to 70lbs. without assistance
- Knowledgeable in the use of basic hand tools and power equipment
- Understanding of basic computer functions in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability and willingness to adapt to a wide variety of duties and responsibilities
- Willingness to work alone or as part of a team
- Ability to act and look professional while representing ILM
Experience
This is an entry level position; however, experience in Soil and Water Conservation, Ecological Restoration, Aquatic Ecology, or Environmental/Biological Science is preferred.
